Packing checklist

Many camping horrors are linked, at least in part, to being ill equipped for camping - either you didn't know you needed an important item or you forgot to bring it with you.

A complete camping checklist is essential in ensuring nothing important is forgotten and left behind and should include your camping gear and anything else you will be taking with you on your camping trips. It is also a reminder of what you shouldn't be taking - if it's not on the list it should stay at home!

Camping checklists will vary depending on the style of camping you are doing - hiking, car and tent camping or camping with camper trailers, caravans and other types of RV's. As with this website in general, the camping checklist below is specific to car and tent camping.

While your checklist should include everything you are likely to take with you camping, not everything goes on every camping trip. Before each trip, we suggest you print a copy of your checklist and mark off the items you are not taking with you. In the section at the end of the third page, you will see an area to record "to do" and shopping lists as well as your meal planner and any other notes you might like to take.

Everyone should chip in to help organise and prepare for camping, but just make sure there is one person charged with double checking that everyone has done their job properly.
